Word of the Week: “Omnishambles”

As the fall semester comes to a close, I drew my abstract stick figure interpretation of the word “omnishambles” on the white board in my office in honor of a good friend who posted the BBC’s word of the week from a few weeks ago on Facebook — piles of paper, binders, grading, crumpled paper overflowing out of the garbage, daily growing lists of things to do, and one assistant professor sporting an Einstein-esque -do… the storm before the calm (as the saying should go).  Up this week – review 40 grant applications, finish writing a book chapter, prepare an all day workshop on setting up a Moodle site, and grade undergraduate paper revisions. Sigh. T-12 days till winter vacation…
