Towards the end of a day of sightseeing, a conference colleague and I were returning back to our respective hotels. On the way, we almost tripped over a beat-up looking box. Given that there was an “Occupy Auckland” camp in the vicinity and people camping out, it wasn’t too farfetched of an assumption.
** In the spirit of full disclosure, I should say, it was I, not my colleague, who almost fell over the box. **
Upon closer examination, we realized it was a metal/steel box and that it was bolted into the ground. As we walked around this box, mystified, we saw a metal sign with the artist’s name and the name of the piece. We actually stuck around for a little bit to watch other people’s reactions when they came upon this street installation and that was pretty entertaining too. A bit candid camera-esque.
Anyway, if you happen to be in Auckland, and are wandering around the downtown area around Queen Street, keep an eye out for these guys… 🙂
